# Transactional Emails

> Send emails via API

Transactional emails are emails sent directly through the API. They are typically used for one-to-one communication, such as password resets, order confirmations, and notifications.

The `/v1/send` endpoint supports up to 50 recipients per request.

## Automatic contact creation

Every transactional email sent via [/v1/send](https://docs.mailglyph.com/api-reference/public-api/sendEmail.md) automatically creates or updates a contact for each recipient.

* If the recipient already exists, their contact is updated with any new metadata you provide.
* If the recipient is new, a contact is created automatically.
* If your active contact limit is reached, MailGlyph creates the recipient as a [pending contact](https://docs.mailglyph.com/concepts/contacts.md#pending-contacts) so the email can still be delivered.

## Sending with attachments

MailGlyph supports sending attachments with transactional emails. You can include up to 10 attachments per email, with a maximum total size of 10MB. Attachments should be base64 encoded and included in the `attachments` array when sending the email via the [/v1/send](https://docs.mailglyph.com/api-reference/public-api/sendEmail.md) endpoint.

## Sending from a template

You can also send transactional emails using a [template](https://docs.mailglyph.com/concepts/templates.md) you have created in the dashboard. This allows you to reuse the same design and content for multiple emails, while still personalizing them with contact data.
